Lucknow : Reacting sharply to the unruly scenes in the state assembly here Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati lashed out at Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav, accusing him of taking out the party’s ire against the Congress party by attacking state Governor T.V.Rajeshwar.
The chief minister was speaking after the inauguration of All India Police Athletics Meet at the PAC grounds here.
“Basically, the Samajwadi Party was bugged with the Congress. But instead of hitting out directly, they chose to train their guns at Governor Rajeshwar,” she said.
“The ruckus could also be intended to divert the attention of the people from the re-emerging differences between the Samajwadi Party and Congress.
“Whatever happened on the floor of the state assembly was highly deplorable and unbecoming of representatives of the people,” she said.
Mayawati termed protests by the Samajwadi Party on the floor of the house as “reflection of the prevailing frustration in the party rank and file”.
Refuting the Samajwadi Party’s charges that the state’s law and order had deteriorated under the Bahujan Samaj Party rule, the chief minister added sarcastically: “Perhaps Mulayam was referring to his own rule when lawlessness was the order of the day”.
