CLMC general secretary Lateef Muhammad Khan said whenever CM Reddy speaks nowadays on Telangana issue he pretends to be sympathetic towards Muslims and declares that formation of Telangana state would be a hurdle in security and development of Muslims.

The reality is that the Congress CM is using Muslims safety issue just to hide his government’s opposition of Telangana state. “This way he is conspiring to divide Hindus and Muslims. He is playing a game with the people of Telangana in the name of Muslims for his own political benefits,” said Lateef Muhammad Khan.

He is thinking that nobody from Muslims will dare to question him as he has taken the Muslim ruling class under his control. He has rewarded chairmanships of Urdu Academy, Haj Committee, waqf board, and seats in legislative councils to the Muslim ruling class belonging to religious and political group, said Khan. “And because of this they never feel bad for defamation or misusing of Muslims name by Chief Minister Rajshekhar Reddy for his political benefits,” Khan alleged.

“Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee wants to remind people the day of May 2004, when Rajshekhar Reddy took the oath of Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He said ‘I do not want to see a single tear in the peoples’ eyes’. Rajsekhar Reddy government has not only cheated the people but also backstabbed the Muslim community and their condition today is so worse that they don’t even have tears in their eyes to cry,” Khan said.

This Congress government has taken away even the right to weep from the Muslims. Remember the day when Hyderabad police illegally, unlawfully tried to handover Maulana Naseeruddin to Gujarat police and when voice was raised by some youths against this, a youth named Mujahid Saleem was shot dead at pointblank range.

Father of Mujahid Saleem, Maulana Abdul Aleem Islahi (75) was sitting beside the body with his relatives with tears in the eyes and heavy heart. In front of him was his the dead body of his 25-year-old son. Saleem’s mother and sisters were weeping. All of a sudden the state police arrived and beat up Maulana Abdul Aleem Islahi and dishonored the dead body. He was beaten so badly that all his clothes were stained with blood. He became unconscious and was not able to perform last rites of his son.

Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee “sincerely appeals to Tameer-e-Millat and Jamaat-e-Islami to prove their credentials. We also want to say to the people that now the time has come to give answer to the Congress government for the harassment done to Muslim community,” Lateef Muhammad Khan said.
