Poonch : A Poonch resident who had gone to Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK) for better future prospect was arrested today by army after he crossed back to this side of Line of Control (LoC) at Ranger Nallah near TRC in Chakan-da–Bagh area, here Monday morning.
Reports said that troops of 18 Kamo regiment arrested a forty year old man who crossed LoC to this side of the border during the wee hours today.
Identified as Saraj-ud-Din Sarfaraz son of Muhammad Zaman resident of Rawal Pindi, Pakistan, the arrested intruder basically hails from Mendhar area of Poonch. He was being interrogated by the local police and army, sources told News Agency of Kashmir.
Saraj had crossed to PAK along with his father and three brothers in 1984 and was driving a taxi to survive, police sources said.
“We have registered a case and he is being questioning” a police officer told NAK adding during preliminary questioning it was learnt that he along with his father and three brothers had crossed LoC in 1984 and were settled in Rawal Pindi area of Pakistan.
He has pleaded that he was facing hardships due to poverty and was forced to cross back leaving behind three children, wife and father. His two other brothers are residing separately in the same locality there.
His three other brothers Shah Muhammad, Muhammad Taj and Muhammad Jahangir are still living in Kala Band area of Mendhar.
Number of families in border district of Poonch have crossed over to the other side of border for better future prospects since last three decades.
