New Delhi: Santoor player Shabir Ahmed Saznawaz of Jammu & Kashmir is among the 33 selected for Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2008.
Started in 2006, Ustad Bismillah Khan given in honor of famous shahnai player is given to young artists of India who have made a mark in filed of performing arts. The award carries a purse of Rupees twenty five thousand. It is given to artists below the age of 35 years.
Shabir Ahmed is the son of a famous musician Ustad Ghulam Muhammad Saznawaz. Shabir has performed in India and abroad.

Rajnish Mishra & Ritesh Mishra (Joint Puraskar) and Vishal Jain for Hindustani Vocal Music; Jai Shankar Mishra (Tabla), Debopriya Chatterjee (Flute) for Hindustani Instrumental Music; V.Sumitra and Manasi Prasad for Carnatic Vocal Music; C.S.Balabhaskar (Violin) and B.S.Purushotham (Kanjeera) for Carnatic Instrumental Music.
