New Delhi : A city court Thursday awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to three men after holding them guilty of raping a minor after promising to take her to meet her ailing parents in Uttar Pradesh.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Ina Malhotra found accused Nanhey, Raju and Ram Niwas, all residents of a village in Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, guilty under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code relating to gang rape and kidnapping.
The convicts, who were co-villagers of the victim, came to her house Feb 22, 2004, in Delhi where she had come to live with her brother.
They asked the girl to accompany them to her village saying her parents were ailing, the prosecution said.
During the travel, the convicts ravished her. Later, the brother of the victim lodged an FIR alleging that the three villagers had abducted his sister.
The girl, in her testimony, indicted the accused saying they misled her and raped her during the travel to her village.
