“I had said many times that Naxalism is a great danger to our polity,” Manmohan Singh told journalists while on his way back from a three-day visit to Russia.

“The home minister (P. Chidambaram) has good ideas. We will take effective action and we have plans,” he said. He, however, refused to disclose these plans saying it would not be sensible to “go in public (with) what we propose to deal with the menace”.

“But its seriousness is fully appreciated and recognised by our government,” he added.
