Aligarh: The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis was today conferred the honorary rank of Colonel Commandant on behalf of Director General of NCC.
Before conferring the honorary rank, NCC Cadets of boys and girls presented a Guard of Honour to Prof. Azis.
Addressing the function, Prof. Azis thanked Colonel A. K. Singh and entire NCC staff for conferring honorary rank of Colonel Commandant on him. He said that he had been an active NCC cadet during his school and college days. His spirit as ex-cadet is very alive and gets reflected in his soul and mind even today.
Colonel R. K. Gill, Officer Commanding of 1 UP Engineering Company NCC, AMU said that NCC was introduced in the University 60 years back. Since then both the organizations have forged ahead and boast of numerous laurels achieved with mutual cooperation with particular reference to career enhancement of NCC cadets from the University. He hoped that the appointment of Vice Chancellor as Honorary Colonel Commandant will further strengthen the existing bond and better coordination of NCC Training and Cadets of the University particularly its dedicated involvement in career enhancement of students-cum-cadets.
Col. A. K. Singh exhorted University authorities to motivate cadets for commission in armed forces as he was wiling to organize personality development and career counseling for cadets.
