The Eighth additional district judge’s court of Pradeep Kumar pronounced the quantum of sentence after finding the two guilty Monday. The court also slapped a penalty of Rs.10,000 on each of them.

According to Additional District Government Counsel (ADGC) Manoj Tyagi, Yusuf and Rashid, who are brothers, stabbed Pappu to death Feb 25, 2000.

During their interrogation by the police after arrest, they revealed that they were the Pakistani nationals. Originally hailing from Muzaffarnagar, their family had shifted to Lahore in Pakistan in 1984, they said.

The brothers came to India in 1996 along with their mother Shakeela. While she returned to Pakistan after a brief stay, the brothers stayed back and shifted to Ghaziabad. They then started earning their livelihood as fruit sellers, added Tyagi.
