TMMK workers attacked by DMK cadres during poll in Chennai

Chennai: At least six people attached to the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MKK), the political front of Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK), got injured, three of them seriously, when the cadres of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) attacked them during poll in Central Chennai Lok Sabha constituency yesterday.

The incident took place when MKK candidate for Central Chennai S. Hyder Ali along with his supporters reached the N.K.T. Girls School polling station in Ice House area in Central Chennai on the information that bogus votes were being cast. As soon as they reached there they were confronted by DMK cadres. In the clash six MKK workers were injured. Their two vehicles were also damaged.

In protest to the violence and demanding repoll at some booths the workers of MKK blocked road at some places in the city. The party has alleged that several booths were captured by DMK cadres. The police has registered a case against the attackers.
