According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the humidity level Sunday was recorded at 68 percent while the maximum temperature was 39 degrees Celsius and the minimum 25.1 degrees – both two degrees below normal.

“Both the maximum and minimum temperatures are low for this time of the year. This dip in temperature can be attributed to the pre-monsoon activity,” said an IMD official.

The met department has predicted partly cloudy skies Monday with the possibility of thundershowers and rain, accompanied by squalls in some areas. The maximum temperature Monday is expected to hover around 39 degree Celsius.

“The residents of Delhi can expect some respite from the scorching summer as the day temperature is likely to remain below normal for two more days,” the official added.

The muggy weather left the people restless they preferred to stay indoors over the weekend.

“It was so humid that I decided to stay at home rather than going out with my friends and partying,” said Aashi Singh, a college student.
