An agreement was signed between representatives of both sides late Thursday night, ending the strike in the industrial unit that had been on since Sep 21.

The dispute had started in August this year, when workers raised certain demands and went on a “go slow” agitation followed by a strike. The management retaliated by suspending 16 workers.

As the matter went to the labour court, the strike was declared illegal which led to further tension and finally a clash between two groups of workers last month that left one person dead and several injured. The clash also led to a blockade of NH-8 (national highway from Delhi to Jaipur).

Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Rajinder Kataria Friday said both sides had agreed to cooperate in the matter.

The company has agreed to take back the 16 suspended workers in phases. Agitating workers will not get any salary for the strike period even though this will be considered continued service.
