Jamia Millia seeks help from police to protect its female students

New Delhi: Taking seriously the molestation of a mass communication student, Jamia Millia Islamia has decided to seek help from the police to protect its female students.

Mr Najeeb Jung, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia today met a section of students from the AJK Centre for Mass Communications regarding the molestation of one of its students.



“Taking a grave view of the situation and the threat to the safety of female students of the University, Mr Jung is writing to the Commissioner of Police apprising him of the situation and the need to take urgent steps to avert any such incident in the future,” said Rakhshanda Jalil, Director, Media & Culture, JMI.

“The University shall also be filing a criminal complaint against the boys who are involved in the molestation of the Jamia student,” she further said adding that the Vice Chancellor is also taking up the matter with the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation of Delhi , urging him to take action against the Headmaster of the government-run school in Bharat Nagar, near New Friends Colony.
