Threats to Darul Uloom Deobnd aggravate

By RINA,

New Delhi: A new local outfit in Saharanpur (U.P.), Rashtrawadi Maha Sabha (RMS), yesterday, issued an ‘ultimatum’ to Darul Uloom Deoband to launch an agitation if the fatwa advising Muslim students to avoid singing ‘Vande Matram’ is not withdrawn within fifteen days. The threat evoked sharp reaction from Muslim organizations from across the country.

For about a fortnight, RMS leader Virender Singh has been spitting venom in and around Saharanpur warning that Darul Uloom’s effigy will be burnt in front of the institution in Deoband. The curious fact is that local administration has remained mum over Virender’s hate-mongering and action precipitated against the communal organization.

Reacting over fresh ultimatum, the president of Amroha based NGO, Youth Muslim Committee (YMC), advocate Murad Arif said in a meeting called in Chah Ghauri locality of the city, “We highly condemn such lowly talks against Darul Uloom.. The fatwa issued by Darul Uloom is respected not only in India but all over the world. ”

“Since Islam does not allow kneeling down before anyone other than Allah ”, advocate Murad continued, “None has got any right to point his finger against our Ulema or Madrasas. If they think that Muslims can be forced to leave the country through such intimidation, they are mistaken.” Similar sentiments are reported from several other places.

Expressing concern over latest developments, the Mohtamim of Darul Uloom Deoband, Maulana Marghoobur Rahman said, “Earlier, RMS spit venom in its gathering in Faqir Das Inter College in Margpur village and Saharanpur collectorate. This is not known out of which expediency the district administration and police officers have not taken any notice of this provocation.”

On this occasion, Darul Uloom’s Na’ib Motamim Abdul Khaliq Madrasi expressed the apprehension, “If the administration and police officers do not bridle the leaders of this communal organization, their provocation may prove a serious danger to communal harmony and peace and well-being.”

“This is out of a conspiracy that the people associated with saffron organizations are exploiting this organization as their aim is to harm Hindu-Muslim unity and national integration on pretext of the fatwa.” However, he appealed to Muslims to persist with their forbearance and patience.

Meanwhile, YMC leader has demanded U.P. government to punish the culprit after due inquiry in this case. He also asked the government to instruct Deoband S.P. to file a case against miscreants attempting to flare up a communal riot.
