Ranchi : A civic official in Jharkhand’s Gumla district was arrested Tuesday along with four other people for allegedly getting her husband murdered, police said.

Priti Agrawal, a ward commissioner, was arrested Tuesday along with her brother-in-law Deepak Agrawal and three other people, police said.

Three days ago Priti Agrawal’s husband Naresh Agrawal was shot dead by unidentified persons, police said.

“Priti Agrawal had illicit relations with Deepak Agrawal who is the younger brother of late Naresh Agrawal. Both Priti and Deepak hatched a conspiracy to get Naresh killed,” a police officer said.

“They hired criminals to murder Naresh Agrawal,” the police officer added.

Both brothers were businessmen. Deepak Agrawal runs a business in Ramgarh district and Naresh Agrawal used to run a business in Gumla district.

Priti was elected as a ward commissioner of the Gumla Nagar panchayat in 2007.
