“There is a sense of arrogance in some of the ministries. There is no humility in their functioning,” Jaitley, who was here to release the party’s election manifesto for next month’s assembly poll in Haryana, told media persons.

“Humility has become foreign to the UPA government,” Jaitley added.

He singled out the civil aviation, human resource development (HRD) and home ministries as arrogant.

While Jaitley charged the civil aviation ministry for mishandling the current Air India crisis, in case of the HRD ministry, Jaitley said it showed arrogance in dealing with the strike of the Indian Institute of Technology faculty.

“The home minister (P. Chidambaram) wants people of Delhi to change their behaviour (before the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi). If the home minister himself learns humility, I am sure the people of Delhi won’t lag behind,” Jaitley remarked.

The BJP leader sought the immediate intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the ongoing stalemate between the Air India management and striking pilots.

“The prime minister made a specific reference to bailing out Air India in his speech on Independence Day from the Red Fort. If Air India is so important as to get a mention in that speech, the prime minister’s office should intervene to resolve this crisis,” Jaitley added.
