Washington DC: Association of Indian Muslims of America (AIM) has strongly condemned the judicial pronouncement of a session court of Raipur, Chhatisgarh, which sentenced the famous rights activist Dr. Binayak Sen to life imprisonment on Friday.
“We feel very aggrieved to learn that the renowned Indian activist Dr. Binayak Sen, who has dedicated his entire life to serving the poor and deprived people of India, has been sentenced by an Indian court to life in prison on the trumped up charge of sedition” expressed Kaleem Khwaja of the AIM.
Terming the judgement as the triumph of the multi national corporations which are uprooting poor people for their own benefits he said: “Some multinational corporations are uprooting the people from rural areas and exploiting the natural and manpower resources of the country for their own benefits. Dr. Sen’s struggle is against this treachery and exploitation of the poor people who live in the countless villages of India.”
Mr. Khwaja appealed to the Supreme Court of India and the President of India to facilitate the release of Dr. Binayak forthwith and allow him to carry on his humanitarian mission.
