New Delhi: Safety in urban development will be discussed by around 300 town planners, safety engineers and disaster management experts at a three-day convention beginning here Tuesday, a statement said Sunday.
R.N. Rajput, chairman of the Institute of Engineers, Delhi chapter, said: “The main aim of the national safety convention is to focus on issues related to safety and quality and advise governments and private bodies on steps necessary to ensure safety in urban development, road and rail transport and the industrial sector.”
According to Rajput, experts attending the convention will be discussing ways and means to attain safety in the housing sector, transport and industries. Food safety, fire safety, cyber security, construction and building safety, energy and environment issues would also be debated.
He said the convention’s agenda includes issues related to safety against natural hazards, public health issues and safety standards and certification.
An exhibition on safety equipment would also be held.
