Ulama Council to protest against Cong leaders’ visit to Sanjarpur

By TCN News,

Azamgarh: Rashtriya Ulama Council will protest the tomorrow visit of Congress leaders Digvijay Singh, national general secretary, and UP Congress president Rita Bahuguna to Sanjarpur in Azamgarh to meet the parents of Batla House accused. The Council has termed the visit a well-calculated political move seeing the approaching Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
“When the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are approaching the Congress general secretary is remembering Sanjarpur while though in power in the centre and Maharashtra they are not enquiring about the Malegaon blast case. Ulema Council will not let them succeed in their dirty politics,” said party president Maulana Amir Rashadi while addressing press today in Azamgarh.

He condemned the arrest of Shahzad Ahmed from Khalispur village in Azamgarh yesterday.

Ulema Council leaders said that if Digvijay Singh is true well wisher of the Muslim community he should first ensure a CBI enquiry into the Batla House encounter under the supervision of a Supreme Court Judge.

Party national vice president Parmatama Sharan Pandey said Digvijay Singh said in April 2009 during the Lok Sabha elections that the Batla encounter was fake and he assured Maulana Rashadi that he will meet Sonia Gandhi and do something in the case but he did not do anything.

Pandey announced that the Ulama Council will protest his visit and will not allow him enter the district. Council workers will show him black flag and demand enquiry into the Batla encounter.
