New Delhi: Well-known fashion designer Rohit Bal has been chosen the goodwill ambassador of “Power of Kiss”, an initiative to boost girl child education and welfare in the country.
“I think there is a time in our lives when we all need to give back to the society. This is an incredible initiative. It is to ensure the safety of the girl child and give them proper education so they can provide for her family if needed,” Bal told reporters at a press conference here Thursday.
An initiative by Swedish cosmetic brand Oriflame, the month long “Power of Kiss” campaign, to be launched in February, primarily aims to raise funds through sale of Oriflame lipsticks in India.
While Rs.2 from each purchase will be donated to the cause, the Jochnick Foundation – a charity by the founders of Oriflame – will give Rs.4 for each purchase. Thus, a total of Rs.6 will be collected on each lipstick sold.
This money will be donated to NGO Deepalaya that works towards girl child welfare.
“We are hoping to sell at least 500,000 lipsticks in India next month so that we are able to donate at least Rs.3 million to Deepalaya,” said Fredrik Widell, managing director, Oriflame.
The event also saw the unveiling of a special logo designed for the campaign.
