Good words, sympathy for Urdu in Tamil land

Chennai: It was a gala evening at Hotel Merina Tower where Indian Union Muslim League leaders had gathered to release an Urdu book. The speakers – from IUML chief and MP E Ahmed to party MLA Abdul Basith – uttered good words and showered sympathy for the weaning Urdu language in the land of Tamil language.

Written by A.M. Haneef, the 82-page book titled “Indian Union Muslim League Nazaryathi Safar Mein Rajaji Hall se Shadab Mahal thak” (Glimpses of History of Indian Union Muslim League: From Rajaji Hall to Shadab Mahal) gives detailed history of Indian Union Muslim League. The book has been published by IUML Publication Trust, Chennai.

Union Railway Minister for State and IUML national president E. Ahmed participated as the chief guest. Ahmed showered laurels on the language mentioning the popular writers like Prem Chand and Kishan Chand etc. He also mentioned that Urdu language has been allowed as medium in Railway Board examinations. Extolling the virtues of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi, Ahmed appealed to listen to the demands of Muslims from Tamil Nadu that Urdu will soon find bright days in the state school system.

Prominent among those present at the program were Ex-MP and State president Khader Mohiadeen, party MP E.T. Mohammad Basheer from Kerela, M. Abdul Rahman, M.P. from Vellore constituency in Tamil Nadu and M. Abdul Basith, MLA from Vaniyambadi in Vellore Dist.

Abdul Basith MLA spoke in oratory Urdu language. He expressed concern that legislative members and parliamentarians speak language other than Urdu on the floor. On Urdu he said, “Hamai Zuban Jama’at Nahi balke Jamee’at Hai……Eh Siyasath Nahi balke Amanath Hai (Urdu is not for a group but for whole host; this (language) is not a politics but (a trusted)conservation.

While praising the book Abdul Rahman M.P. said that it was a painstaking work of Haneef where in the author does not fail to neglect any event which has taken place in the formation of IUML.
