Hira Foundation of K’nataka distributes Rs 5.5 lakh in scholarship

Mangalore: Hira Foundation, an educational and charitable trust, disbursed scholarships worth Rs. 5.5 lac among 248 students with poor economic background here on July 11. Among them 46 students were orphans. The Foundation announced to give monthly scholarship to the orphans.
The Foundation, which was formed in 2004, distributes scholarship every year. This year it has started a new project to distribute a special scholarship for orphans on a monthly basis. The group is attached with Jamaat-e-Islami Hind.

At the function held in Hidayath Centre here on Saturday, the Trust distributed Rs 48,750 worth scholarship among 46 orphans. The beneficiaries are supposed to receive a fixed amount as scholarship every month throughout the academic year. As many as 202 poor students shared scholarship totaling Rs 4,98,750.



Speaking on the occasion, Shaukat Ali K, State President of Student Islamic Organisation of India, called upon student community to cultivate good character and insisted education should not drag youth away from morality.

Y Muhammad Beary, President, Muslim Education Institutions’ Federation, said the main reason for lack of focus among children is television, which plays a key role in shaping emotions and feelings.



He said mothers play an important role in shaping the future of their children. “If mothers lose control over their children, they may go astray,” he warned.

Maulana Yahya Thagal Madani, Khatheeb, Havva Jum’a Masjid Bolangadi also spoke.
