New Delhi: Due to a delay in filing of chargesheet, a city court Tuesday granted bail to a home ministry official and a co-accused in a scam involving purchase of bulletproof jackets for paramilitary forces.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was supposed to file the chargesheet within the stipulated period of 60 days.
Additional Sessions Judge O.P. Saini granted bail to ministry official Radhey Shyam Sharma and director of a Delhi-based company R.K. Gupta.
Earlier, another co-accused, Lavleen Gupta, wife of Gupta, was granted bail.
On April 28, Lavleen Gupta and her husband, director of Anjani Technoplast Limited, were arrested along with Sharma, a director-level officer in the ministry, for alleged corruption in the purchase of bulletproof jackets for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
