Popular Front welcomes Andhra Muslim reservation order

By TCN News,

Bangalore: Popular Front of India has welcomed the decision by the Supreme Court to uphold the reservations for backward Muslims in Andhra Pradesh after being withdrawn by the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. PFI demanded that reservation should be provided on the basis of backwardness and it should not be denied to anybody on the basis of religion.

“This has been the firm belief at Popular India that reservations should be provided after identifying a backward group and not on the basis of religion. Similarly it cannot be denied to anybody on the basis of religion,” said KM Shareef, General Secretary, Popular Front of India.

“We hail this decision and welcome it as the first light in the hope of state backed assistance to minorities to develop them and bring them back into the mainstream,” he said.
