Islamabad : About five soldiers were killed on Friday when Taliban militants attacked their checkpost in Pakistani tribal agency, bordering Afghanistan, officials said.
The incident took place in Sarorogha area of South Waziristan tribal agency. Security officials, in press remarks, said Taliban militants attacked a security forces checkpost with rockets and guns.
They said the militants killed five soldiers and wounded at least three others.
The forces launched a retaliatory operation and targeted suspected militant hideouts, said officials.
However, no figures of casualties inflicted on militants were available so far.
