Brussels : NATO’s Deputy Secretary General Claudio Bisogniero met here Friday with the head of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan, Lt. General Nadeem Ahmed to discuss the Alliance’s relief efforts in support of the flood victims.
Bisogniero and Ahmed spoke about the current situation and the efforts made by Pakistan to overcome the floods disaster, noted an NATO statement here last night.
The Pakistani officialk expressed his gratitude for NATO’s assistance and described the contribution made by the Alliance as “measurable, tangible and very helpful”.
He also shared views with his NATO interlocutors regarding the reconstruction plans of the Pakistani authorities for the months ahead.
NATO has so far organized 22 flights delivering 900 metric tons of relief items.
This constitutes around 10 percent of the overall international assistance to Pakistan, added the statement.
