Mumbai: On the International Quds Day yesterday, the city-based Bharat Bachao Andolan called
the world community to save Palestine from the oppression of Israel, terming it a humanitarian
issue, not one of Muslims, Arabs or Israel.
Feroze Mithiborewala, president, Bharat Bachao Andolan said, “We, the Indian People, extend
our solidarity to the courageous people of Palestine and endorse our support to the resistance
against the Zionist Israeli occupation.
Against the illegal oppression of Israel and in support of the Palestinians, Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran declared in August, 1979, the last Friday of every Ramzan as International Quds Day. On the day Muslims from all around the world show their support for the oppressed Muslims of the world and in particular Palestine by organizing rallies and other form of agitations.
Terming Palestinian resistance as the “International Vanguard” of common struggle against
imperialism and Zionism Feroz Mithiborewala informed that Palestinians are demanding only
22% of their land from the illegal oppressor Israel he insisted, “We demand the establishment of an Independent and Sovereign state of Palestine with Jerusalem as its capital.”
Aslam Ghazi of the same group claimed, “Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi the two great
world leaders always supported the cause of Palestine. He said, “From Mr.Gandhi to Mrs. Indira
Gandhi, India has always espoused to Palestinian struggle for freedom but unfortunately now our foreign policy is more inclined to Israel.”
The group also demanded an end to the Gaza siege immediately because 1.5 million people are cornered without the basic needs such as food and medicine. They said, “The brutal and
inhuman siege is leading to a Holocaust of the Gazans and is a grave crime against humanity.”
