“We are in touch with opposition leaders. We have to get bills passed and there are issues to be discussed. The government has always said it is prepared for a meaningful discussion. We hope parliament will function normally tomorrow,” Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Harish Rawat told IANS.

The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party, which Wednesday forced adjournment of the two houses over police action on its youth wing workers and firing on agitating farmers near Pune, also indicated that it may not continue its protest Thursday.

“We decide our strategy for the day every morning,” BJP leader Sushma Swaraj said here.

She said that parliament had witnessed both disruptions and debate since start of the session Aug 1 and the party had protested only because of police “brutality” against its youth wing workers.

Answering queries, she said stalling of proceedings was also a parliamentary tactic which was used by all parties.
