Complaints to Minority Commission increasing every year

New Delhi: The number of complaints reaching the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) is increasing every year. The NCM received 2,268 complaints during 2009-10 and during 2010-11 the number was 2,378. In the current year of 2011-12, from 1st April 2011 up to 31st July 2011, 942 complaints have been received by the panel.

Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Vincent H. Pala, Minister of State for Minority Affairs, said that the complaints are taken up by the NCM for appropriate redressal of the grievances with the concerned authorities as per requirement.

Regarding 942 complaints received during this year, the position is as under:
Closed – 150
Forwarded to concerned authorities and closed -220
Forwarded to concerned authorities for enquiry and report – 196
Under process for action – 376
