New Delhi : Cornered on the issue of corruption, the government has called an all-party meeting Wednesday afternoon to develop a consensus on the issues involved in the Lokpal bill.
Sources from various political parties Tuesday said the government had convened a meeting at 3.30 p.m.
Other sources said that the government was looking at the possibility of incorporating some of Anna Hazare’s demands but would rather have a dialogue with other political parties for a wider political consensus.
Confirming the meeting, Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid said that the government was looking for solutions.
“We are working for a solution. Whenever there is an incident that may (lead to) aggression or disturb peace or (cause) any other worry, a solution should be arrived at,” Khurshid told reporters outside Parliament.
“Political parties, including those in the opposition, should make an effort to find a solution,” he said.
The meeting has been called as Anna Hazare’s fast for against government’s Lokpal bill entered the eighth day Tuesday.
