Kozhikode: The CH Muhammed Koya Journalism Awards instituted by the CH Muhammed Koya Journalism Award Trust and the Calicut Press Club were announced yesterday. The award for the national television field is for famous anchor and commentator Karan Thapar. The award in the national print media is for Gopikrishnan, senior reporter in the ‘Pioneer’ who brought out the 2G scam.
NP Rajendran, deputy editor in ‘Mathrubhumi’ and chairman of the Kerala Press Academy, has been announced the winner of the award for the best Malayalam journalist. Mr Thapar and Mr Gopikrishnan will be awarded Rs 1,11,111, certificate and memento each. Mr NP Rajendran will be awarded Rs 55,555, certificate and memento.
The winners were selected by the jury headed by MT Vasudevan Nair. Other members of the jury were TJS George, TN Jayachandran and Jayachandran Nair. The awards will be presented in the function to be held in Kozhikode next month, said PA Ibrahim Haji, chairman of the Trust.
The award is instituted in the name of CH Muhammed Koya, former Chief Minister of Kerala and late leader of the Muslim League.
