New Delhi : All roads led to Ramlila Maidan Thursday for many students of Delhi University (DU) who did not have to miss their classes as their teachers were busy with the Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) elections.

Students thronged the Ramlila Maidan that has been the venue of the fast against corruption by activist Anna Hazare.

“Entire university is busy with teachers’ elections. It won’t be fair to say that we are missing classes to support Anna Hazareji,” Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) student Pragati Dua told IANS.

While the students and teachers have been at loggerheads for missing studies to support the cause, DU students had a different take on the issue.

“When the teachers go on strike, why don’t they talk about studies being missed. Now it is about a cause – corruption. It should not be criticised,” Gargi College student Anumeha Das said.

On day 10 of his fast, the anti-corruption crusader adamantly refused to be taken to hospital or be administered saline until his demands for a stronger Lokpal Bill were met.

“We have not missed any class for the last 10 days. Today, when the elections are on, we decided that we will come to Ramlila Maidan from early morning,” said Parag Malhotra, a second year commerce student of Hansraj College.
