Hyderabad: Despite all kinds of institutional efforts to bury the issue of Babri Masjid – no action against the demolishers and faith-based court verdict for trifurcation of the Babri land – it is a fact that “Babri Masjid still remains deep in the hearts of Muslims, and stick in their minds and now it has become the symbol of their identity,” said Lateef Mohammed Khan, General Secretary, Civil Liberties Monitoring Committee (CLMC) on Tuesday.
“The government is using all kinds of tactics to erase the incidence of demolition of Babri Masjid that took place on 6th December 1992 from the minds of the Muslim community either by rewarding or awarding or by way of threatening or arresting. Perhaps a common Muslim would have forgot it if it had been an ordinary building, but Muslims believe that Masjid is the house of Allah,” Khan said in a statement on Tuesday – the 19th anniversary of Babri demolition.
He also criticized the September 30, 2010 verdict of trifurcation of the Babri land.
“The strange and confused judgment of Allahabad High Court has made a mockery of Judiciary, and once more the secular structure of the country has been destroyed. This time the court by the way of judgment has attacked the Babri Masjid,” he said.
CLMC leader demanded the government to leave formal proceedings and lame excuses, and to remove the blot on the face of Indian democracy, secularism and judiciary they should start work to reconstruct the Babri Masjid on the same site.
