Islamabad : Pakistan has formed a committee that would recommend steps to prevent bank robberies.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik constituted the committee for preparing recommendations within three weeks for ensuring effective security of bank branches all over the country, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
Malik held a meeting that discussed measures to control bank robberies.
One of Pakistan’s biggest robberies took place in December 2009 when robbers stole at least $3.7 million from a bank in Karachi. The robbery took place at the main branch of Allied Bank, one of Pakistan’s largest banks. The bank was located less than 100 metres from city police headquarters.
