Kozhikode: A group of Malayalis who had been stuck in the rebellion-hit Egypt reached back home yesterday. Sixteen Malayalis reached Karippur, Nedumbasseri and Thiruvananthapuram airports via Dubai. The team is reported to have started from Cairo in the evening on Tuesday and reached Dubai at midnight, after which they flew to Kerala.
They said that though no incidents have been reported regarding any attack on foreigners in Egypt, different countries were transferring their citizens from the country. The Air India had arranged a special flight from Cairo to India, however the rates were too high, they reportedly said.
There are about 180 Malayalis working in Egypt. Those who came yesterday had been reportedly working in a construction company.
