Wanted for more than one year on charges of helping his own relatives as well as those of politicians and other JPSC members get government jobs, Prasad had surrendered in a vigilance court Feb 4. The court had sent him to 14 days judicial custody.

The vigilance bureau had moved court seeking Prasad’s custody to interrogate him in the job scam, and the court accepted its plea.

Around 180 appointments were made by the JPSC in 2007-08. The vigilance bureau lodged a case last year against 32 people including Prasad and former JPSC members Radhagovind Nagesh, Shanti Devi and Gopal Singh.

Based on a vigilance probe, 39 officers so appointed were sacked last year.
