New Delhi: India has sustained economic growth of 8-9 percent and the government is working to further improve economic growth and create more jobs, Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma said Monday.
“We are working on to build India the manufacturing capital of the world so that more and more jobs can be created to use the global opportunities,” he said, in his address at the All India Management Association’s (AIMA) foundation day function here.
Sharma emphasised that global fulcrum of economic growth is shifting fast and India is ready for the challenges and opportunities and its important for the country to be the home of large number of significant business investments.
“Today I feel proud about the strides taken by our corporate across the world. Many of our companies have grown globally and this has been achieved by leveraging the nation’s comparative advantage of information and knowledge society,” he said.
The minister also stressed upon the need for environment friendly technology for the development of the country.
“Clean and green technology is the need of the hour and India is ready to play a defining role,” Sharma said.
He also awarded the corporate leaders and social-entrepreneurs for their contribution in uplifting the standards of poor people and working at the grassroots levels.
