In a letter to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Gadkari said the party takes pride that one of the states being ruled by it has become “a role model of development for the entire country”.

“The success of the Gujarat government in attracting record investment is a testimony of the confidence that the investor community has repeatedly reposed in the government of Gujarat under Mr. Modi’s leadership,” Gadkari said.

He said a perfect balance has been struck in Gujarat in rural and urban development, which has made lives “more livable” and “added to the investment-attractiveness” of the state.

“We have been stressing the need for setting examples in good governance in the states where we are in power. ‘Vibrant Gujarat’, we believe, is one such illustrious success that will encourage other governments and inspire our party rank and file,” he said.

Praising Modi’s performance, Gadkari said the state had scaled new heights in economic growth and successfully attracting record investment.

The fifth Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors summit 2011 ended in Gandhinagar Thursday with Modi announcing investment promises of Rs.20,83,000 crore ($462 billion) through 7,936 memoranda of understanding (MOUs), expected to generate employment opportunities for 5.2 million people.
