The appointments can be made by the month-end, according to official sources.

The ruling coalition partners, the National Conference and the Congress, have discussed the details and names of the members to be appointed to the commission, empowered to take up cases of corruption against officials and ministers.

The government would soon be convening the meeting of the panel that recommends the names, the sources said. The panel comprises the chief minister, the leader of the opposition, a senior minister, the chief justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court and the speaker of the legislative assembly.

Earlier, the meeting was scheduled to be held on July 18 but had to be postponed because of the objections raised by the Congress’ state unit chief Saifuddin Soz over his party not having been consulted over the matter.
