Would Krishna be sacked, questions BJP

By IANS,

New Delhi : Trying to turn the tables in the Karnataka mining scam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday asked the Congress if it would sack External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna after his named appeared in the report of the state Lokayukta (ombudsman).

The report blames Karnataka Chief minister Y.S Yeddrappa and his cabinet ministers for their alleged involvement in illegal mining.

“If the speculations are the basis of their demands, the BJP would like to know possibly the same report also carries the name of S.M. Krishna. On the basis of the same speculation, would the government like to sack him as well,” BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy asked while speaking to reporters.

“It is pointless for the Congress party to be hypocritical,” he said.

The BJP leader, however, refused to comment on the possible action the party may take against the ministers indicted in the report.

“One of the leading newspapers quoted Santosh Hegde (ombudsman) saying that he is still dictating some parts of the report. It means the report is still not finalised, he is working on it. But prior to this, there is lot of speculation all around,” Rudy said.
