Kolkata : The two-week-old Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal was expanded Friday with the swearing in of five ministers of state from the Congress.
Abu Naser Khan Chowdhury, Pramathanath Roy, Manoj Chakraborty, Sunil Chandra Tirkey and Sabina Yasmin were administered the oaths of office and secrecy by Governor M.K. Narayanan in a simple function at the Raj Bhavan here.
With this, the strength of the Trinamool Congress-Congress ministry has gone up to 43.
On May 20, 38 ministers including the chief minister were sworn in.
Besides Banerjee, union Minister of State for Urban Development Sougata Roy, and Leader of Opposition Surjyakanta Mishra attended the function.
