London : A man in Britain triggered a three-hour police siege as he threatened to blow up a bank, a media report said.
The suspect, from Luton town, walked into the high street bank with a device strapped to his leg, sparking a stand-off with armed officers, Daily Mail reported Friday.
The man, believed to be a former employee of the bank, brought Watford town centre to a standstill threatening to blow up the branch of the co-operative Thursday morning.
Armed police and army bomb disposal experts laid the siege before the man carrying the device gave himself up to officers and was taken into custody for questioning.
Tests later revealed the device was ‘not viable’, police said.
Police said the 23-year-old might have had some kind of grudge.
