Local Bodies and Industries Minister Tikshan Sud said that under the project, door-to-door collection of garbage from every home would be ensured and solid waste would be processed in a scientific manner to ensure minimal pollution and value addition by the processing of garbage.
The minister said that sites for setting up solid waste processing plants have already been identified and the local bodies’ department had secured clearance to start these.
He said that the project would be implemented in Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Bathinda, Patiala, Sangrur, Pathankot and areas under Greater Mohali Development Authority.
“The Punjab government is very keen on this environment-friendly project to find a lasting solution to the problem of waste,” said Sud.
