Patna: Amid the criticism for no relief package to the victims of Forbesganj police firing, yesterday Bihar CM Nitish Kumar selectively announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs. 3 lakh to the father of the 10-month boy Naushad who died in the firing on June 3.
The state government will give Rs. 3 lakh to Siddique Ansari for the death of his 10-month son Naushad in the police firing at Bhajanpur village. However, no compensation has yet been announced to other victims. The government has made it clear that the decision to pay compensation to other deceased will be taken on the basis of the report of judicial probe which is expected to be out not before coming six months.

Notably, after coming under fire from opposition, the chief minister ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident. But as the judges including Patna High Court Chief justice are on summer vocation, no initiative has been taken so far.
Six poor Muslims were killed in police firing while many others injured when they were protesting against the blocking of the connecting road between two villages on June 3 at Bhajanpur village under Forbesganj block in Araria district.
