Kolkata: The West Bengal government will give non financial affiliation to around 10500 Madrasa School. Chief Minister of the state Mamata Banerjee announced this while talking to the media on Friday.
Benerjee also said, “Financial condition of our state is very poor. Due to the non-recognition, Madrasas didn’t get financial assistance from the Central Government. Advertisement will be issued very shortly in this regards.”
The CM also said that after getting recognition from the state government, Madrasas will be eligible to get funds from the Central Government Minority Development Programmes.
In the past, governments led by Left and Congress recognized Madrasas schools with financial assistance including teacher’s salary.
Recently minority development scheme, Maulana Azad Foundation of Central Government changed its criteria to get financial assistance. After 2005, no fund has been allotted by the Azad Foundation to Madrasas which doesn’t have the state recognition.
