New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should clarify the Congress and government stand on inclusion of the prime minister post in the ambit of the proposed Lokpal bill.
“The BJP would like to seek a clarification on the stand of the prime minister whether he is in agreement or disagreement with the inclusion of the post of the prime minister in the Lokpal bill,” party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters here.
“It seems that there is slugfest within the Congress party on the issue of bringing the prime minister within the ambit of the bill,” he said.
The formulation the anti-graft Lokpal bill, which is being drafted by a joint committee of government and civil society members, saw hitches after differences emerged between the two sides on the inclusion of the prime minister in its ambit.
While civil society members of the panel have demanded that the prime minister be brought under the bill the government members have opposed the view.
