New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Monday reiterated that he accepted “full responsibility” for appointment of the tainted P.J. Thomas as central vigilance commissioner (CVC) and said guidelines to appoint the head of India’s main anti-corruption body would be followed.
“We accept and respect the verdict of the Supreme Court. The government will take into consideration the guidelines and directions given by the court while appointing a new CVC,” Manmohan Singh told the Lok Sabha.
“Obviously, I accept the full responsibility for it,” he said.
The Supreme Court had last week struck down Thomas’ appointment as CVC.
