Chennai : The 2011 Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) will start at Nashik June 2-5, and not Durgapur as originally scheduled, according to an amended calendar released by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), here Wednesday.
Durgapur was to host the first round in April but it has now been shifted to December in view of the West Bengal assembly elections, the release added.
The FMSCI confirmed the introduction of the Open Cup for diesel and petrol vehicles (up to 3000cc). The diesel class will have two categories – up to 1600cc and between 1600 to 3000cc.
The turbo charged induction factor will also apply to this class which will become a part of the support class for the INRC as in the case of the Gypsy Cup and 1400 Star Cup.
The INRC venues and dates are: Nashik (April 2-5), Chennai (June 23-26), Coimbatore (July 22-24), Bangalore (Aug 19-21), Chikmagalur (Nov 18-20), Bhubaneshwar (Dec 9-11) and Durgapur (Dec 16-18).
