Five held for burglaries

New Delhi : With the arrest of five people, the Delhi Police Friday claimed to have solved five cases of burglary and auto thefts here.

“Hilal, 20, Mohammad Shahin, 21, Ram Kishan, 21, Javed, 19, and Manoj Sharma, 24 were held from Govindpuri area in south Delhi Thursday following a tip-off,” Additional Commissioner of Police Virender Singh Chahal said.

Two bikes and two cars have been recovered from the possession of Javed and Sharma, respectively.

“Five mobile phones, 44 mobile phone batteries, recharge coupons, television sets and DVD players were recovered from the possession of Hilal and Shahin,” said Chahal.

During interrogation, Hilal and Shahin told police that they recced shops during the day and at night robbed them with the help of their associates – Karan Singh and Mohammad Mallik.

Singh and Mallik are involved in cases of robbery, burglary, auto-theft and snatching in south Delhi area. “They are hiding in Gujarat. Efforts are on to nab them,” said Chahal.
