Himachal legislators hurry home on match day

By IANS,

Shimla : Even though the attendance at the Himachal Pradesh assembly did not see a drop, the legislators were in a hurry to return home after lunch Wednesday to watch the India-Pakistan World Cup semifinal clash on TV sets.

After the question hour and passing of the bills, Speaker Tulsi Ram informed the members that the debate on the cut motion regarding the demands for grants was to be wrapped up by 1.45 p.m.

He said a post-lunch budget session was not being held after requests by some members.

Keeping the timeframe in mind, opposition Congress legislators also participated in the debate.

The budget was finally passed within the stipulated time.

Congress state chief Kaul Singh, when asked whether he was going to Mohali to watch the match, told IANS: “Can’t…Chandigarh has been turned into a no-fly zone!”
