Chennai : DMK president and former Tamil Nadu chief minister M.Karunanidhi, whose daughter Kanimozhi was Friday sent to jail in the 2G spectrum case, said the party’s high-level committee would meet and chalk out the next course of action.
Speaking to reporters here, Karunanidhi said: “DMK is a democratic party and we cannot decide individually. The party’s high-level committee would chalk out the next cours of action.”
Karunanidhi also said the alliance with the Congress is strong and the arrest of Kanimozhi would not affect it.
A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in New Delhi Friday turned down Kanimozhi’s bail plea and the Rajya Sabha member was later taken into custody.
Asked for his response, Karunanidhi said he was in the same state of mind as those whose close family members are arrested.
He denied he was going to New Delhi Saturday and said the next course of action in the case will be taken consulting legal experts.
The CBI had named Kanimozhi and Kalaignar TV chief Sharad Kumar as co-conspirators in its April 25 supplementary charge sheet after it traced an illegal money trail of Rs.214 crore in the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
Along with Kanimozhi, the CBI court also denied bail to Sharad Kumar.
